Dear Passengers PC Requirements: What Steam Tells Us
A plain-English explanation of the current minimum PC requirements for Dear Passengers, plus the important gaps that remain unannounced.
Reporting rule: confirmed facts are tied to named sources. Interpretation is labeled, and missing details stay unknown until FLEXUS or Steam publishes them.
Short answer: Steam publishes a minimum Windows 10 configuration, but it does not publish a recommended tier, target resolution, target frame rate, controller requirement, or Steam Deck result. Treat the list as an entry floor, not a performance promise.
The current Steam listing gives a minimum target, not a recommended configuration. That distinction matters because Dear Passengers is still in development. A minimum list usually answers whether the game should start and remain playable under some conditions; it does not guarantee a particular preset, frame rate, or resolution unless the developer publishes those targets separately.
How to read the processor line
“Intel Core i5 at 2.5 GHz or equivalent” is broad. Core i5 covers many generations with very different core counts and per-core performance, and clock speed alone cannot identify an equivalent AMD or Intel chip. The listing therefore does not support a precise CPU shopping recommendation. It only signals a mainstream desktop-class target rather than a named, generation-specific processor.
What the graphics pairing does and does not prove
Steam lists a GTX 1060 or RX 6600 XT. Those cards are not close equivalents in every modern game, so the pair should not be converted into an exact performance ladder. It may reflect the hardware FLEXUS has tested, a conservative AMD target, or a listing that will be refined later. None of those explanations is confirmed.
What can be said safely is that a discrete DirectX 12-capable GPU is expected. The list does not name Intel integrated graphics, Apple silicon, cloud streaming, or Linux translation layers. Owners of laptops should compare the exact mobile GPU model rather than assuming a laptop with the same marketing number performs like its desktop counterpart.
Memory and storage are separate decisions
Eight gigabytes of RAM is the published minimum. A browser, Discord, capture software, and the operating system all share that memory, so an 8 GB system has less spare capacity than the line suggests. Recommending 16 GB as a guaranteed game requirement would be inaccurate, but it is reasonable general-purpose headroom for players who multitask.
Four gigabytes of available storage is unusually small compared with many current PC games. It may describe the current build rather than the final download, and it does not include Steam's temporary update space. Leave more than exactly 4 GB free and check the store page again before installing a demo or release build.
DirectX 12 and Windows 10 set the confirmed platform boundary
The listing explicitly names 64-bit Windows 10 and DirectX 12. That does not automatically exclude Windows 11, which also supports DirectX 12, but FLEXUS has not published a separate Windows 11 statement. Mac, Linux, Proton, and console compatibility are not listed. A Steam page being visible on those devices is not evidence that a native build exists.
What the listing does not tell us
- Recommended CPU, GPU, memory, and storage
- Target resolution, graphics preset, and frame rate
- Upscaling, frame generation, ultrawide, or HDR support
- Controller requirements and keyboard-remapping options
- Steam Deck review or developer compatibility statement
- Mac, Linux, Proton, or console versions
- Network bandwidth and host requirements for online co-op
A practical pre-demo checklist
- Recheck the live Steam requirements; pre-release fields can change.
- Identify the exact CPU and GPU model, especially on a laptop.
- Update the graphics driver and confirm DirectX 12 support.
- Keep additional storage free for unpacking and updates.
- Wait for a public benchmark before buying hardware for one untested game.
Bottom line
If a PC clearly meets or exceeds the published list, it is reasonable to follow the game and test a future demo. The current fields are not enough to promise smooth performance. This guide will update when FLEXUS publishes recommended hardware or a downloadable build makes repeatable measurements possible. Until then, the broader release and demo tracker records whether anything testable is actually available.
